Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Tots 'R' Us Nursery is committed to the equal inclusion of all children in all areas of nursery life.
The Nursery recognises the diverse and individual needs of all of our children and takes into account the additional support required for those children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
At Tots ‘R’ Us Nursery, we believe that all children deserve the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. We aim to do this by adhering to the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014, The Equality Act 2010 and The Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) code of practice: 0-25 years (2014).
"Staff develop strong links with local schools and other professionals, including those who support children who have special educational needs and disabilities."
Ofsted 2017
Our aims:
- Identify the specific needs of children with special educational needs and disabilities and meet those needs through a range of SEND strategies
- Work in partnership with parents/carers and other agencies in meeting individual children’s needs
- Monitor and review our policy, practice and provision and, if necessary, make adjustments
- Have a designated Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO)
Admission arrangements
There is no selection process to enter the Nursery. Children with SEND have the same opportunity to attend as children without. We make every effort to meet the individual needs of all children. We provide an opportunity for the SENCO and key person to visit the child and their family in their own home prior to the child starting the Nursery.
